“Dressage is going in the wrong direction”

ANDREW GOULD: “I feel very strongly at the moment that dressage is going in the wrong direction. Listening to people talking, they’re so casual about ‘not needing to win any more’ because they just need a percentage. I think current qualification criteria promote completely the wrong attitude. It’s a little bit too laid back and that is what we are always accused of being in this country. Sport should be about winning. I want to be able to tell my owners that I competed in a strong class and that I won, not that people don’t care . . .

Out and About Dressage has become a Subscription Only service
The nearly 1,000 existing posts (as at July 2018) and future posts on Out and About Dressage represent a great deal of honest toil, often at 'unsocial' hours! As much fun as it is watching and photographing the action at shows and talking to riders — or however interesting it is learning about some new dressage relevant topic, bringing this information to website readers represents significant costs. For this reason the relaunched Out and About Dressage is available on subscription only.
